StudyAI — Privacy Policy

StudyAI ("the app", "we", "us") turns study material you provide into flashcards, quizzes, and an AI tutor. We built StudyAI to collect as little about you as possible. This policy explains exactly what is and isn't collected.

The short version

• No account. StudyAI does not ask you to sign up. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any login.
• Your study material is used only to build your guides. When you create a guide or chat with the tutor, the text, photos, PDFs, or slides you provide are sent to our server and our AI provider solely to generate that content, then returned to you.
• Your guides stay on your device. Generated guides and your study progress are stored locally on your iPhone, not on our servers.
• We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your material to train AI models.

What we process, and why

• Study material you submit (typed text, a subject name, photos, PDF or PowerPoint files): transmitted over an encrypted connection to our backend and to our AI provider (Anthropic) for the sole purpose of generating your study guide or tutor reply. It is processed to fulfill your request and is not stored on our servers after the request completes.
• Technical request data: when your app contacts our server, the server temporarily handles your IP address to provide security and rate limiting (to prevent abuse). We do not use it to identify you or build a profile, and it is not retained for analytics.
• Purchases: StudyAI Pro is an auto-renewable subscription processed entirely by Apple. We never receive or store your payment information. Apple manages billing under Apple's Privacy Policy.

AI processing

To generate study content, the material you provide is sent to Anthropic's API. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. See Anthropic's terms for details.

Data retention

• We do not persist your study material on our servers after your request is processed.
• Guides you generate and your progress remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent your information. Your study material is shared only with the service providers that make the app work — our AI provider (Anthropic) and our cloud hosting provider — strictly to deliver the feature you requested.

Your choices

• Delete any guide at any time inside the app (long-press a guide → Delete).
• Uninstalling the app removes all guides and progress stored on your device.
• Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions.

Children's privacy

StudyAI is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app requires no account and collects no identifying information, it does not build profiles of any users.

Security

All communication between the app and our server uses HTTPS encryption. Access to our backend is restricted and rate-limited.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
